I don’t usually talk about radio stations on my blog, but since one of my favorite radio stations is signing off in less than two weeks, I would like to talk about my memories of listening to a radio station called KQV.
A few years ago, I would sometimes listen to KQV whenever I wanted to hear the news reports. I liked most of the disc jockeys that were on there back then. I sometimes listen to it today … and some of those disc jockeys are still here today. Sadly, once 2018 starts, I will not be able to listen to KQV anymore.
There’s actually a bit of irony here. Recently, I went into Downtown Pittsburgh with my relatives … and we ate at the Bruggel’s Bagel Shop, which is located in the Chamber of Commerce Building in Downtown Pittsburgh. Believe it or not, KQV’s old studios were in that space for a while … and, while I was eating my breakfast there, I was able to watch the cars go past the building. I was also able to look at the Centre City Towers while I was eating my breakfast then … and KQV’s studios are in that building today.
Anyway, I will miss listening to KQV whenever it signs off in less than two weeks. I will remember this station for a long time. Whenever I go to Bruggel’s Bagel Shop in Downtown Pittsburgh again, I will always think of KQV being in that space many years ago.
