If you ride along Lindsay Road in Scott Township, you may come across a place called Scott Township Park. I have been to that park several times over the years … and, whenever I was younger, I went to the pool that’s in Scott Park. Now, that swimming pool is fantastic … and the water slide is fantastic. I rode on it many times while I was the pool in Scott Township Park. You would go up one flight of its stairs and wait before the lifeguard tells you to walk up the next flight of stairs. Then, when he or she says, “go,” you would go down the water slide. Then, when you get to the bottom of the water slide, you may briefly go underwater for a couple or seconds or so. It’s happened to me maybe once or twice over the years. I don’t like to go under the water, though.
While I was there, I remember seeing them doing “water breaks” near the end of every hour. They lasted for 10 to 15 minutes every hour … and they were announced by a man named Ronald Ellis. He worked at Scott Township Pool for many years … and, in 2018, he passed away at the age of 79. Now, during the “water breaks,” the kids would leave the pool … and the adults would remain in the pool. I thought that was kind of neat. Mr. Ellis always did a fantastic job in telling us when the “water breaks” would start and end … and he also told us to “give the adults a few more minutes.”
I like the pool in Scott Township Park a lot … and, while I don’t really go there anymore, I may be able to see it while I ride along Greentree Road as I go towards Route 50 in Heidelberg. It’s a fantastic pool!
