Blog Post Number 1,075 Is About A Terrific Disc Jockey

I am writing my 1,075th blog post today … and it will be a terrific disc jockey.  This disc jockey works at a local radio station … and I had the chance to meet him in McDonald back in 2013.

The disc jockey’s name is Kenny Woods and he’s a disc jockey at 101.5 WORD-FM, which is a Christian radio station in Pittsburgh.  He also worked at 3WS in Pittsburgh in the ’90s … and I would sometimes listen to him on there.  Believe it or not, whenever he did his show on 3WS Back then, you would sometimes hear Rick Sebak say, “He’s a world-class authority on amusement parks,” which is from his show, “Kennywood Memories.”  It was probably a play on words or something like that.  Well, Kenny may not be an amusement park expert, but he is my second favorite Pittsburgh disc jockey ever, behind only former WISH 99.7 disc jockey Dan Dunlap.

Next time, you will get another chance to revisit one of my past blog posts as we continue to celebrate my blog’s fifth year.

In honor of my blog’s fifth year, I’d like to show you five blog posts that I wrote down on or around March 11th in previous years …

Joseph’s Flashback: Joseph once went to Avella

Several years ago, I traveled to Avella, which is located in Washington County, with my relatives … and, in the late ’90s, I even went to Meadowcroft with my fellow students.

Well, anyway, I’m gonna tell you about my trips to Avella.  I would just take Route 50 from my house to Avella with my grandparents a lot whenever I was younger.  We would sometimes see interesting things in Avella … and we would also ride on the other roadways that are in or around the little town.  Some of those highways include Route 844, Route 231 and, of course, Route 50, which goes right through Avella.  I like this town a lot … and I will try to go there again soon.

In honor of my blog’s fifth year, I’d like to show you five blog posts that I wrote down on or around February 21st in previous years …

Remembering Joseph’s Old Hewlett-Packard Computer

I have been able to use my new Hewlett-Packard Pavilion computer for the past four days now … and, as I start to get used to this computer, I want to take a moment or two to remember the old Hewlett-Packard computer, which was at my house from July of 2015 until February of 2019.  I have had a lot of memories with this computer … and I’ve written hundreds of my blog posts with that computer.  I have written more than 1,000 blog posts on this blog over the past 4 1/2 years or so, so, while I have owned my computer for more than 3 1/2 of those years, let’s just say that I have written more than half of the blog posts that I have been able to write down on my blog.

During the second half of 2015, I took these pictures … and I tried to include the computer in my photos.

As you can see by the many pictures that I have of my old H.P. computer, I will surely miss this computer a lot, but I will remember it for a long time.

This is the first blog post that I wrote down with my old Hewlett-Packard computer …

Joseph’s New Hewlett-Packard Computer

For 3 1/2 years, I had an old Hewlett-Packard computer in my “computer room” … and I’ve written hundreds of my blog posts on it.  Sadly, that computer is no longer in my “computer room” because it has gotten too slow in its final weeks, so I ended up buying the computer that I’m about to show you today.

Today, I’m going to talk about my new Hewlett-Packard computer.  It’s working very well so far … and, hopefully, I can keep this one for a long time.  I purchased the computer at Best Buy, which is located in North Fayette, on February 7, 2019.  The keyboard and the computer’s tower were both in, but the LG monitor, which goes to the computer, was not in stock whenever I went there the first time to make my purchase.  Several days later, on February 13, 2019, I went to Best Buy again and I purchased all of the parts of my computer … and I was able to take it home with me that same afternoon.  The following morning, I said good-bye to my old H.P. computer after 3 1/2 years … and, just hours later, I started using my new H.P. computer.  I like it so far … and I will use it nearly every day for as long as I’m able to do so.

I brought home two boxes from Best Buy, which is located in North Fayette, on February 13, 2019. In one box, there is a keyboard and a tower for the computer … and, in the other box, there is a monitor for it, which is from LG.

Remembering Piglet Four Years Later

February 12th is one of the saddest days of a year for me in a typical year because, on that date in 2015, Piglet, who was my English Bulldog, passed away at the age of 12.  Today, I’m marking the fourth anniversary of Piglet’s passing by writing this blog post down.  Not a day goes by where I don’t think about Piglet.  We have pictures of her all over our house … and we have a pink stone near the front of our house.  I will remember her for a long time.

Also, in recent years, I have talked about my bulldog, Piglet, in a blog post on February 12th of every year … and she was even the subject of my 350th blog post back in 2016.  You can find a link to those posts below the slideshow, which will appear just below this part of the post.

Joseph’s Flashback: Joseph remembers Callahan’s

For many years, there was a part of Great Southern Shopping Center that was home to many different places, including a disco-style nightclub called V.I.P., a terrific restaurant called Face’s and a terrific sports pub called Callahan’s, which is the restaurant that I’ll be talking about in today’s blog post.

I went to this place with my relatives many times whenever I was younger.  They had games there, they had little TV sets at every booth and, of course, they had great food there.  The service there was fantastic, as well.  I liked this place a lot … and I will remember this place for a long time.

After Callahan’s left the shopping center, it was called one or two other things … and, when it burned to the ground in 2006, it was called Crazy Horse Saloon.  Bentley’s Banquet Hall was also in the same part of the shopping center as Callahan’s.  At times, I were able to see parts of the banquet hall while I walked through Callahan’s itself.

Let’s Talk About A Past Blog Post: I’m no longer in the “Lyme” light

In June of 2016, I wrote a short blog post entitled “I’m no longer in the ‘Lyme’ light.”  I said that my Lyme disease symptoms were gone … and I also said that I didn’t have to take my medicine anymore.  I was inspired to write this blog post down because I wanted to let you guys know that I was no longer suffering from Lyme disease.

Here’s a link to the blog post …

Again, watch out for ticks if you are gonna go outdoors this year!
