An “ode” to a friend named “Deek”

If you were growing up in the ’90s like me, you may have seen a rather unique logo on television.  It was for a production company called DiC.  It was pronounced “Deek” … and you heard someone say the word almost every single time.

I’m not going to talk about that company, but I would like to talk about the word “Deek” itself.  In fact, one of my friends sometimes uses that name.  His real name is Derek Cryblskey.  I talked about him in a blog post earlier this year.  Derek is a terrific friend and a classy neighbor.  He is polite, funny and down-to-earth.  Sometimes, I call him “Deek.”  Again, he’s just a terrific friend.

Joseph’s Top Blog Posts For November 2018

November is almost here already … and, before you know it, 2018 will be coming to an end.  At some point in November, I will write my 1,000th blog post down … and it could be about anything.  Since I will be celebrating this milestone throughout the first half of November, I will be giving my features my break in November.  Also, as I prepare to write my 1,000th blog post in just a matter of days, I will write a 10-part blog post, which will be entitled “Joseph’s Road To His 1,000th Blog Post.”  In it, I will talk about my blog’s biggest milestones ever.  If everything goes according to plan, I will being my “road” to my 1,000th blog post on Thursday.

Of course, after I write my 1,000th blog post in the middle of November and after I celebrate the milestone, I will give you some great blog posts along the way.  One of my blog posts will be entitled “An ‘ode’ to a friend named ‘Deek.'”  It will be about my friend Derek Cryblskey, who sometimes likes to be called “Deek.”

Another one of my blog posts will be entitled “I have owned my leather jacket for one year!”  I’m referring to my black leather jacket, which is from Vintage Leather.  I purchased it on kohls.com just last year.  It’s one of two jackets that turns me into “Mr. Classy.”  The other jacket, of course, is the grey Michael Kors jacket.

“Mr. Classy” and the grey Michael Kors jacket will be the subjects of the blog post that I’m about to tell you about.  This post will be entitled “Will the real ‘Mr. Classy’ please stand up?”  This post will be about “Mr. Classy” and his “stand-in,” whose name is Tim Smith.  Hopefully, we can wear our jackets on Thanksgiving Day this year.  If we can’t do that, I will give you guys a back-up blog post instead.

Another one of my blog posts will be entitled “Joseph Has Another Classy Item To Show You.”  I may buy another classy item at T.J. Maxx soon.  If I do buy the item, I will talk about it in this blog post.

I will give my blog a break for Halloween, but, beginning this Thursday, I will start my road to my 1,000th blog post.

I hope you guys will help me celebrate my 1,000th blog post in November … and I hope you will check out my 1,000th blog post when it does come out in the middle of November.  Don’t forget to check out my other blog posts throughout November as well.

Enjoy your day!

In honor of my blog’s fifth year, I’d like to show you five blog posts that I wrote down on or around October 30th in previous years …

Blog Post Number 975

Today, I’m writing my 975th blog post for you guys … and I will be making a special announcement.  Some parts of it are good and some parts of it are bad.  I apologize in advance if I get a little bit emotional while I type this blog post.

As you probably know, I have not been taking a lot of my evening walks around National Hill this year.  I’ve been cutting back on them for personal reasons … and, in just a matter of days, I will stop doing that forever.  I won’t stop walking around National Hill completely, though.  I will start walking at other times during the day.  I will probably walk in the late morning hours instead of the late afternoon hours.  This way, I won’t have to disturb too many people while I walk around National Hill.  I do have fantastic neighbors and friends, though.

Thank you all for your understanding.

In tomorrow’s blog post, I will ask you guys a question about my 1,000th blog post, which will be written by me in just a few short weeks.

In honor of my blog’s fifth year, I’d like to show you five blog posts that I wrote down on or around October 11th in previous years …

My “super” friend and neighbor, Michael

Since at least the late 2000s, Michael Spicer has been one of my neighbors on National Hill .. and, up until the Summer of 2012, I didn’t really get to know him that much.  That all changed on August 29, 2012, whenever I introduced myself to him near his home on National Hill … and, just three days later, we became friends on Facebook.

I would just like to say that Michael Spicer is both a “super friend” and a “super neighbor.”  We have now been real-life friends for six years … and we also like to celebrate our “friendaversary” in a rather interesting way.  We both have the grey Superman T-shirts … and we like to wear the shirts on or around August 29th of each year.  As of today, I have decided to dub those shirts as our “friendship shirts.”  That’s because our grey Superman T-shirts are now the official shirts of our friendship.

For more than 10 years, Michael and I have been neighbors on National Hill … and, for six of those years, we have been real-life friends. We are both “super friends” and “super neighbors” … and we have the grey Superman shirts to prove it. The shirts are now the official shirts of our friendship. I have now dubbed them our “friendship shirts.”

Next time, I will write my 950th blog post on my blog … and it will be about one of the classiest people that I have ever known.

In honor of my blog’s fifth year, I would like to show you five blog posts that I wrote down on or around September 2nd in previous years …

Joseph’s 900th Blog Post

Today, I’m writing my 900th blog post … and, in more than 100 days or so, I will write my all-important 1,000th blog post on this blog.

Today, my 900th blog post will be about one of the classiest people that I have ever known … and his name is Derek Cryblskey.  Derek is one of the classiest friends that I have ever known.  He is a terrific friend and a terrific neighbor.  He also knows one of my store’s co-workers.

Recently, we were able to wear the camouflaged Yeti shirts with class.

Joseph’s Top Blog Posts For June 2018

Can you believe it?  The month of June is almost here … and that means that Summer is right around the corner.  It also means that we’re almost halfway through 2018 already.

In this blog post, I’m gonna tell you about a few of the blog posts that I’ll be writing down in June.  One of those blog posts will be my 900th blog post.  I’ll be writing it in the middle of the month.  I won’t tell you what it will be about yet, but I will give you a hint right now.  My 900th blog post will be about one of my classiest friends ever.  It could be about any one of you guys.

Another one of my blog posts will be entitled “Joseph Remembers His Battle With Lyme Disease Two Years Later.”  I will talk about my battle with Lyme disease, which occurred nearly two years ago.  It seems like I just had it yesterday.  Tick season is getting underway, so I’m doing everything I can to stop myself from getting it again.

Another one of my blog posts will be entitled “Joseph Is Not Going To The Cabins This Year!”  In the blog post, I will tell you why I won’t be going to the cabins this year.  The reason may surprise you a little bit.

Another one of my blog posts will be entitled “Joseph’s New Colussy Chevrolet Shirt.”  This year, Colussy Chevrolet, which is located in South Fayette, is turning 100 years old this year … and they will have a classy shirt, which will come out next month.  I may buy one for myself next month.  Of course, if I don’t buy one, then I won’t write this blog post.  I will write a back-up blog post … and I don’t know what it will be about yet.

Another one of my blog posts will be entitled “An ‘ode’ to a classy friend named Michael.”  This blog post will be about one of my friends, whose name is Michael.  I can’t tell you which one it will be yet.

I will also give my features a break in June.  I’ll be giving my computer a break from around 7 p.m. on Friday, June 8th, until around 5 a.m. on Sunday, June 17th, which is Father’s Day.

I hope you will check out at least one of my blog posts in June.  Enjoy your day!

My 888th Blog Post Is About The Number 8

Happy Memorial Day, my friends!  Today, I’m writing my 888th blog post down … and, today, it will be about the number 8.  I will tell you some rather interesting things about the number 8 … and I will try to use the number 8 in the things that I’m talking about here.

The current year is 2018.

One of my favorite routes in the Pittsburgh area is Route 978, which is located in my part of Allegheny County.

For the past few weeks, I was able to watch channel 208 for about 90 minutes on certain evenings.  I needed a way to unwind after going through some tough days.

I started my blog on the eighth month of a year, which would be August.  I started it in August of 2014.  August, of course, is the eighth month of the year.

Depending on my mood, I usually do my best to wind down during the 8:00 hour on certain evenings.  I will watch a program during that hour, if I’m up to it.

Whenever I gave my computer some “vacation time,” I will usually do it for eight days at a time.

My part of National Hill has eight other houses, which are all very unique in many ways.  We actually have nine houses in my part of the neighborhood, but I do like to give praise to the eight other houses, which are located in my part of National Hill.

In the past, I would sometimes work eight hours a week at my local T.J. Maxx store, but, in recent years, I would just work four hours a week at the store.  I really like it.

So, there you have it.  I was able to give you eight interesting facts about the number 8 that I think are interesting to me.  It was the subject of my 888th blog post.

Enjoy your day!

The “super” neighbors are back!

5 1/2 years ago, me and Michael Spicer have been “super” friends … and we have actually been “super” neighbors for more than 5 1/2 years.  He may have also been one of my neighbors whenever Pauline Danesky was still on National Hill.  Either way, that’s a long time.

Well, anyway, Michael and I are “super” neighbors … and we have our grey Superman T-shirts to prove it.  The shirts make us look classy and “super.”

Joseph and Michael Spicer have been “super” friends since at least August of 2012.

Yesterday was a record-filled day on National Hill!

You might not know this, but I sometimes love to talk about records.  No, not the things that feature some of our favorite songs, but the records that are sometimes set by various people or things.  Last year at around this time, my blog set two new records in a single week … and, yesterday, it was literally a record-filled day in my neighborhood.  Here on National Hill, we set two new weather records in one day … and both of those records were over 100 years old.

We set the first record of the day late yesterday morning.  The old record high was 68, which was from 1891, and we easily got up into the 70s before the morning was over.

After we set the first record, I walked to our mailbox … and, after I came back from the mailbox, I snapped a photo of some clouds, which were in the skies above Cuddy.  There were grey clouds in the sky … and there were some wavy clouds in the sky as well.

On February 20, 2018, while I was outdoors, I snapped a photo of some clouds, which were located in the skies above Cuddy.

A few hours after we set the first record yesterday, we set another one.  At around 4:00 yesterday afternoon, the temperature was 78 … and it would become the warmest February day in our city’s history.  It also prompted me to take my first evening walk around National Hill this year.  It went very well … and I saw some familiar faces outdoors.

On February 20, 2018, I took my first evening walk of the year. It was very warm while I was taking my walk then. Of course, I will take many more of my evening walks later this year.

Spring doesn’t officially start for another month or so, but it certainly felt like it yesterday.  Enjoy your day, my friends!
