Joseph’s Flashback: Our house was partially empty for years before we bought it!

Since 1971, my grandparents, my three uncles, my mother Susan Pratt, who is one of my blog’s followers, and myself have lived in a one-story white house on National Hill.  For safety reasons, I will not reveal the house’s exact location.  For the past 49 years now, all seven of us have lived in that house at one time or another.  My uncles all lived in that house until around the mid 1980s … and, then, my mother would stay in the white house until around the year 2000 or so.  For most of my 34-year life, I have called that white house my home.  Of course, my grandparents have been in that house for 49 years.  Most of the rooms in our houses are in the same locations to this day, but two of those rooms are somewhat different.  My bedroom is my mother’s old bedroom from the time that she was a young girl … and my three uncles all slept in the room that is now my “computer room.”  My mother called that room hers while she lived there as a young adult.  You may say that my “computer room” is an “extension” of my bedroom.

Well, today, I’m going to tell you about our house’s earliest years, before we moved into it.  Our house was completely built at some point in the 1950s, but it was not completely occupied for a number of years.  The house was originally built by John Danesky, who passed away in 2003.  John was the brother of my aunt, Pauline Danesky … and they lived next door to us for many years.  The house was originally built for John and Pauline’s mother, Mary Danesky, but she turned it down.  For a number of years, several members of the Danesky family were living in what is now our basement … and the main floor of our house was still empty!  In fact, until we came along in 1971, there was nothing on the main floor of our house … and there was no staircase, which would eventually go from our basement’s door to our front porch.  You can see proof of that in the four photos of our house, which are from the mid 1950s.  I would also like to thank members of the Danesky family for snapping those photos more than 60 years ago.

As you can see here, it’s always nice to learn about some neat things about the history of one’s house, especially when it’s your own house.  You just never know what kinds of stories you may hear about your own home.  Our house was built in the 1950s … and it has changed somewhat considerably for more than 60 years … and, in 1971, my relatives came here and the rest is history.

I hope you guys enjoyed hearing the story of our house’s earliest days.  I have done this in the “Joseph’s Flashback” feature two times in the past … and, today, I wanted to go a little bit more in depth about our house’s earliest days.  I really like this house a lot!

Tomorrow, I will write my 1,350th blog post down … and it will be about a jacket.  You’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out which jacket I’ll be talking about.

Let’s Talk About A Past Blog Post: Joseph’s Nike Air Jacket

Today, I would like to talk about a blog post that I wrote down in December of 2018.  The post is entitled “Joseph’s Nike Air Jacket.”  In it, I talked about my black and white Nike Air jacket, which I got for Christmas, more than two months after my mother ordered it for me online.  I said that I would wear it many times in 2019 … and I did just that.  I was inspired to write this blog post because I wanted to talk about a classy jacket like the black and white Nike Air jacket.  My uncle, Thomas Papakie, and my friend, Shawn Landy, have this jacket as well … and they wear it with class just like I do.  I also got to revisit the post back in July as I was celebrating my blog’s fifth anniversary.

This jacket is perfect for classy people like me, my uncle and my friend.

Here’s the link to my blog post …

Joseph’s Top Blog Posts About Brady The Bulldog

For just over seven months, Brady has been in our house.  I have written a few blog posts about him since then, but today, I would like to talk about two of my top blog posts, which are about Brady.

One of my posts is entitled “Meet Our New Bulldog, Brady,” which was written by me on April 2, 2019.  I wrote it just days after Brady first came into our house.  Here is a link to it …
Meet Our New Bulldog, Brady (April 2, 2019)

On October 22, 2019, I wrote a blog post in one of my features, which is called “Joseph Has A Question For You.”  In the post, I asked you if Brady should wear a costume on Halloween?  Now, Brady was originally supposed to be a Smurf, but, sadly, he chose not to wear the costume.  I also gave you some other choices, like pumpkins, avocados and unicorns.  Here is a link to the blog post …
Joseph Has A Question For You: Should Brady dress up on Halloween? (October 22, 2019)

Brady is, by far, one of the best pets we have ever owned.  I hope you guys still like him as much as we do.

I finally got to go inside of our new silver truck!

On September 17, 2019, we got a new silver Chevrolet truck at our house.  It replaced our red 2013 Chevrolet truck, which was at our house from December of 2013 until September of this year.  Now, almost one month after we got it, I was able to ride in it for a few minutes one morning.  I was going to Katsur Dental in Collier Towne Square … and I was able to go from my house to the dentist’s office while I was in the truck.

Now, after I left the dentist’s office on October 16, 2019, I was able to snap a photo of myself riding in the new silver truck.  I really like it … and, on the inside, it’s not too much more different from the inside of our red truck.  I snapped a photo of our truck’s odometer also.  Before I show you that picture, I’ll show you the selfie that I took while I rode in the truck.

The inside of this truck is not much different from the inside of our old red 2013 truck.

I snapped a photo of our silver truck’s odometer just before I left the truck that morning.  When I snapped the photo, it had 414 miles on its odometer.  That number has grown considerably over the past two weeks.

I hope you guys still like our silver truck as much as I do.  I was also able to ride in our truck’s back seat over the weekend.  I was going to a relative’s house for a birthday party whenever I did just that.  The silver truck is fantastic, both on the inside and on the outside.

Blog Post Number 1,225

Today, I am writing my 1,225th blog post … and it’s going to be a personal post this time.  Now, on October 16th, I went to Katsur Dental, which is located in Collier Towne Square, for the first time since the Spring of 2018.  My dental appointments usually go fairly well, but it didn’t go so well this time around.  I have to get two more of my upper teeth removed … and I have to get at least one filling.  I will be getting my two upper teeth removed at a later date at the same oral surgeon’s office that I went to in October of 2015 whenever I had my wisdom teeth removed.  Now, it could be hereditary.  My father, James Pratt, had some teeth removed at a young age … and he had false teeth whenever he was in his 30s.  Yes, I will have false teeth while I’m in my 30s … and I feel ashamed about that.

I don’t know when I’ll be getting my two upper teeth removed yet … and I may switch dentists next year.  I will be getting partial dentures in the near future.  I wonder which ones I should get.

Brady has been with us for six months now!

On March 30, 2019, Brady came to our house for the first time.  He’s originally from Ohio.  Our English Bulldog has now been with us for six months … and, while he is still a “work in progress,” he’s still a fantastic dog, nonetheless.  You just have to watch what you do around him.  Make sure you don’t drop anything in his presence.  You have to be really quick if you accidentally drop something around him.  Otherwise, he will grab the item you dropped almost immediately.  It pays to have quick reflexes in this case.

We have now owned our English Bulldog, Brady, for six months now. He’s a fantastic dog, but he’s still a “work in progress.”

I would just like to say that Brady has been able to become a crucial part of our family for the past six months now.  He’s still a work in progress, but we still like him, nonetheless.

Say hello to Donna Barca!

On the morning of July 4, 2019, I went to Giant Eagle in Collier Township for a few minutes … and, just before I left the store, I bumped into Donna Barca, who is the mother of my cousin, Sarah Smith.  I have bumped into Donna several times over the years, but I have never had a chance to appear in a selfie with her … until then.  You will see that selfie below this part of the blog post.
