“Remember your pleases and thank yous”

As we prepare to wrap up my blog’s fourth year together, I would like to talk about a quote that will remain with me for a long time.  I first heard it during a field trip to the Heinz History Center more than 10 years ago.  The quote is … “Remember your pleases and thank yous.”  It was actually one of my teachers who said the quote back then … and it hasn’t really stuck with me too much … until now.

Up until a few years ago, I wasn’t too crazy about people saying “please” and “thank you” to me a lot, but nowadays, I’m urging my friends and even my relatives to say those words to me as often as they possibly can.  This way, they can have more respect than they once had.  Now, I’m starting to say those words at least 50 percent of the time.  You guys are all fantastic … and I hope you all will be able to say “please” and “thank you” to me as often as possible on a daily basis.

Beginning this Monday, August 13th, I will start celebrating my blog’s fourth anniversary by giving you statistics about my blog.  The blog will turn four years old in exactly two weeks.  That event will occur on August 24th.  I plan on starting my blog’s fifth year on August 26th.

Enjoy your day and enjoy your weekend!

One of my aunts is 75 today!

Today is July 26th … and today is a rather exciting day for me.  My aunt, whose name is Carol Kuhn, is turning 75 years old today.  She is a terrific person.  I still bump into her whenever I can … and I still keep in touch with her whenever I can.

I used to spend a few days with her at one time, but, in early 2015, I stopped doing that so that I can focus on writing these blog posts for you guys here on this blog, but I still visit her at her house from time to time.

Happy birthday, Aunt Carol!

My aunt, whose name is Carol Kuhn, is turning 75 years old in 2018! I still bump into her occasionally … and I keep in touch with her as often as I can.

Now, tomorrow, I will write my 925th blog post down … and it will be about one of the classiest friends that I have ever known.

Happy 30th Birthday, Sarah!

30 years ago today, I became a first-time cousin whenever Sarah Smith was born.  Since then, she has become one of the classiest cousins and friends that I have ever known.  Today, I would like to wish her a happy 30th birthday.  Happy 30th birthday, Sarah!

Back in the 2000s, Joseph and his cousin, Sarah Smith, were in Cecil Park for a few hours. They have been cousins and friends for 30 years now!

Guess who’s turning 75 today?

Over the years, the major motion picture companies found unique ways to celebrate 75 years of giving us exciting movies … and, today, I’d like to talk about a person who has found a unique way to celebrate 75 years of giving us some excitement in our lives.  The person’s name is Nicholas Papakie, Sr., who is also my grandfather.

Joseph’s grandfather, Nicholas Papakie, Sr., is 75 years old today! He hit this milestone on March 27, 2018.

Let’s Talk About A Past Blog Post: Guess who’s turning 25 today?

Later this month, I will write a blog post, which will be entitled “Guess who’s turning 75 today?”  In it, I will talk about my grandfather, Nicholas Papakie, Sr., who will turn 75 at the end of this month.

Well, today, I would like to talk about a blog post that I wrote down in February of 2015.  The post is entitled “Guess who’s turning 25 today?”  In it, I talked about my cousin, Derek Papakie, who turned 25 back then.  I was inspired to write this blog post because I’m always fascinated by big milestones like this one.

Here’s a link to the blog post …

Remembering Pauline One Year Later

One year ago today, my aunt, Pauline Danesky, passed away at the age of 88.  She was also my neighbor here on National Hill for over 20 years.  I was able to say good-bye to her at a funeral home in Bridgeville just days after she died.  She was laid to rest the next morning.  I haven’t visited her grave site yet, but hopefully, I can do that just as soon as the weather gets warmer.  I will remember Pauline for a long time.

Joseph’s Flashback: I visited my aunt whenever I was younger!

For over 25 years, I would be able to stay at my aunt’s house, which is located in Green Tree, for several days at at time.  At first, I would stay there on weekends during the school year … and, then in the summer time, I would stay there for a week, if I wanted to.  I first started watching cable TV at my aunt’s house … and I would watch certain channels there almost religiously.

Just over two years ago, I decided to stop doing that because I was getting too old to do that … and I also wanted to focus more of my time on making posts for this blog.  Of course, if I do go on vacations, I will write exciting blog posts ahead of time.  Back in February of 2015, I had no blog posts for you guys while I was away for several days.  That’s what prompted me to stop spending nights at my aunt’s house.

I do keep in touch with my aunt whenever I can … and I go get to spend time with her whenever I can.  I still go to her house during the day, whenever I can, especially on Christmas Eve.  She is a terrific person.

I went to Alexion’s Bar And Grill recently!

On October 9, 2017, I went to Alexion’s Bar And Grill with my relatives.  The restaurant is located in Rook Station, which is located near Noblestown Road in Green Tree.  I have never been to this restaurant before, but I have seen it many times while I was riding on the PAT buses through the Pittsburgh area.

The restaurant is fantastic.  The food is great … and the service is excellent.  I will be going there again in the future … and I will tell my friends and my other relatives to go there as well.

I don’t mind dialing our area code!

For as long as I can remember, I would be able to call my friends and my relatives by dialing only seven digits, but these days, we have to dial ten digits in order to call our friends and our relatives … and, yes, that also means that we have to dial the area code, no matter which number we dial.  It might be someone who’s in the 412 area code … or it might be someone who’s in the 724 area code … or it might possibly be someone who’s in the newer 878 area code.

Well, I rarely call people these days because I would just send text messages to my friends and my relatives, but when it comes to dialing their phone numbers, I just have one thing to say … I don’t mind dialing the area code, even if it’s our area code.

As you can see, I’m writing my 724th blog post area code … and, in a way, it’s about area codes … and 724 is one of the area codes here in the Pittsburgh area.

Now, next time, I will write my 725th blog post.  It will be about something that’s very interesting.
