Celebrating My Blog’s Fifth Year: Supporting My Blog On Social Media

Over the past five years, thousands of people have supported my blog in one form or another on Social Media.  In the Spring of 2019, Google Plus shut down for the last time … and, as a result, I was no longer able to share the posts with my friends on Google Plus, so I had to start sharing it with my friends on LinkedIn.  Last year, at around this time, I said I would share my posts with my friends on LinkedIn at some point during my blog’s fifth year … and, boy, was I right!  I am now sharing my posts to my followers on LinkedIn.  Of course, I’m still sharing my posts to my friends on Facebook and Twitter.

I have 657 friends on Facebook, 528 followers on Twitter and 537 friends on LinkedIn.  180 people are following my blog here on WordPress.com.

My posts have been shared on Social Media 387 times over the past five years.  It has been shared on Facebook 299 times … and it has been shared on Twitter 43 times.

Next time, I will talk about liking my blog posts.

In honor of my blog’s fifth year, I would like to show you five blog posts that I wrote down on or around August 14th in previous years …

“Remember your pleases and thank yous”

During the second half of my blog’s fifth year, I will give you chances to revisit some of my past blog posts … and, throughout June, I will give you chances to revisit posts from my blog’s fourth year. Today, I will give you a chance to revisit the last blog post from my blog’s fourth year. It’s from August of 2018.

Today, I’d like to talk about a blog post, which is entitled “‘Remember your pleases and thank yous.'” One of my teachers said that quote whenever we were downstairs at the Heinz History Center back in the 2000s. The quote hasn’t really stuck with me too much, until recently. When I went to school, I didn’t like it whenever people said “please” and/or “thank you” to me too much, but now, as an adult, I’m urging people to say them to me regularly … and I say them at least 50 percent of the time. In fact, I liked the quote so much that I accidentally said it to a TV personality on Facebook Live just last Summer. It sort of slipped out. I apologized to the TV personality on Twitter not long after my “slip-up” … and, luckily, it went well. This quote is a fantastic quote, to say the least.

Now, this July, I will give you a chance to revisit some of my blog posts from my blog’s fifth year … and some of them may be interesting.

In honor of my blog’s fifth year, I’d like to show you five blog posts that I wrote down on or around June 28th in previous years …

Joseph Pratt's Interests And Some Other Things

As we prepare to wrap up my blog’s fourth year together, I would like to talk about a quote that will remain with me for a long time.  I first heard it during a field trip to the Heinz History Center more than 10 years ago.  The quote is … “Remember your pleases and thank yous.”  It was actually one of my teachers who said the quote back then … and it hasn’t really stuck with me too much … until now.

Up until a few years ago, I wasn’t too crazy about people saying “please” and “thank you” to me a lot, but nowadays, I’m urging my friends and even my relatives to say those words to me as often as they possibly can.  This way, they can have more respect than they once had.  Now, I’m starting to say those words at least 50 percent of the time. …

Celebrating My Blog’s Fourth Year: Supporting My Blog On Social Media

Over the past four years, thousands of people have supported my blog in one form or another on Social Media.  At this time, I have no plans to share my posts to my followers on LinkedIn, but I may consider doing that at some point during my blog’s fifth year.  I still share my posts to my followers on Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus.

I have 568 friends on Facebook, 487 followers on Twitter and 336 followers on Google Plus.  98 people are following my blog here on WordPress.com.

My blog posts have been shared on Social Media at least 89 times over the past four years.  It has been shared on Facebook 43 times, it has been shared on Twitter 23 times and it has been shared on Google Plus 23 times.

Next time, I will talk about liking my blog posts.

Joseph Is Celebrating His 2,500th Day on Facebook Today!

Now, as you probably know, a lot of TV programs like to celebrate certain milestones.  Of course, it’s not every day that you hear someone celebrate an event that I’m about to bring up in today’s blog post.  I have now been on Facebook for 2,500 days.  I first became a Facebook friend on July 18, 2011 … and two of my Facebook friends have been my friends on Facebook from the very beginning.  Those people are Frank Nicotero, who is a comedian, and Andrew Taglianetti, who used to be a Pitt Football player.  Since then, I have had nearly 550 friends on Facebook.  Of course, I’ve actually had more than 550 friends on Facebook for nearly seven years, but, of course, a few of those people have come and gone over the past 2,500 days or so.  Hopefully, I’ll have more fun on Facebook over the next 2,500 days or so.

Are my videos getting longer?

Over the years, the amount of time that I had spent making my videos on my social media sites has gotten longer.  A few years ago, I would make them for about 15 seconds or so.  Then I would make them for about 30-45 seconds … and now, I make them for about 60 seconds or so.  In the past, I would make “vlogs” … and they would be about two or three minutes long.  It would depend on what I was talking about in them, of course.  Whenever I use Facebook Live, my videos may last for as long as 15 minutes, in some cases.

Well, early this morning, I tried something a little bit different.  We had a Winter storm in my neighborhood today … and I wanted to do a little experiment of sorts.  I made a 90-second video … and I posted it on Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus.  I had been thinking about doing something like this since the year began … and, today, I wanted to see if I could do something like this.  I probably won’t do this regularly at first, but if many people like the 90-second videos, then I may make them more often.  Until then, I’ll just make my 60-second videos on my social media sites.  I just don’t know how I’ll be able to use my 90-second videos at this time.  I will try to start using them more often this Spring.

It happened on August 24, 2014! (Part 2)

In the first part of this two-part blog post, I told you about a person who became one of my Facebook friends on August 24, 2014, which is also the day that I started this blog.  Well, today, in the second part of this two-part blog post, I’d like to tell you about a teacher who became one of my friends on LinkedIn on August 24, 2014.

Now, I didn’t have this teacher for any of my classes while I was at South Fayette High School in the 2000s, but I would sometimes see this person whenever I would walk around the high school.  The person’s name is Joseph Silhanek.  We became friends on LinkedIn on August 24, 2014.

Thank you for checking out my two-part blog post on my blog this week.  I hope you enjoyed it as much as I do.  I will give you guys some more interesting blog posts, beginning next week.  Enjoy your day!

It happened on August 24, 2014! (Part 1)

This week, I will be giving my computer a break … and I won’t be giving you guys too many good blog posts this week.  I have good news, though.  I will be writing a two-part blog post for you guys this week … and it will be about the things that happened to me on August 24, 2014, which is also the day that I started this blog.

In the first part of this two-part blog post, I’m going to tell you about someone who became my Facebook friend on August 24, 2014.  I had actually introduced myself to this person one day earlier while I was at Nicky Papakie’s 50th birthday party.  That was in South Park.  Her name is Chelsea Gauthier.  We both became Facebook friends on the same day that I started this blog.

Next time, in the second part of this two-part blog post, I will tell you about a teacher who became one of my friends on LinkedIn back on August 24, 2014.

Enjoy your day!

I am celebrating two milestones on Facebook today!

Today, I am celebrating two important milestones on Facebook.

July 18, 2011, is a date that will be in my mind for a long time.  It was the day that I became a Facebook user for the first time.  Since then, I have made more than 500 friends on Facebook … and two of those people have been my friends on Facebook since the day that I joined Facebook six years ago.

Also, one year ago today, I started using Facebook Live on a semi-regular basis.  I will use it twice a month or so.  In some of those videos, I will tell you guys about the posts that you will be seeing on this blog in any given month … and, in some other videos, I will just talk to you guys in the videos for a short amount of time.  I began to use Facebook Live on July 18, 2016 … and, on that day, I had celebrated my fifth anniversary on Facebook.  I have used it several times since then … and I will be using it again later today.
